Oglethorpe’s medical fraternity Phi Delta Epsilon hosted its third annual Anatomy Fashion Show fundraiser last week and hit a new record — more than $1700 raised for Children’s Miracle Network!
A new tradition during Family Weekend, the Anatomy Fashion Show brings together students from various social and professional Greek organizations across campus, to demonstrate human body systems in a truly unique fashion. The event is also a playful competition among the Greek organizations to see who can earn the most money for Children鈥檚 Miracle Network. This year, Alpha Phi Omega was the top fundraiser.
The student volunteers who hit the runway wore neutral underwear painted with various body systems–like the digestive, reproductive, and endocrine systems–courtesy of talented Phi Delta Epsilon members.
鈥淭he Anatomy Fashion Show is such a campus-wide effort,” said Phi Delta Epsilon President聽Benjamin Hopper. “It has a funny way of building up in the community for a good amount of time.鈥�
Every year a group of judges vote on “Mr. and Mrs. Body,” an honor that this year went to Alpha Phi Alpha鈥檚 Tyler Stridiron and Alpha Phi Omega鈥檚 Ariana Jimenez. The judges also vote on Best Artist, awarded to junior Chrysta Avers.
During intermission, student Amelia Holley shared how Children’s Miracle Network saved her life, providing the audience with a real-life, personal example of how the money raised will help.
Phi Delta Epsilon is a co-ed international medical fraternity that seeks to create future physicians of integrity with a life-long commitment to our guiding principles of philanthropy, deity, equity and education through fellowship, service, mentoring, and formal training in leadership, science, and ethics.
