Yesterday, the handed out bags of sweets in the Turner Lynch Campus Center to help kick off , which runs through Oct. 15.
This honors the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx people throughout United States history. The month coincides with the national independence days of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile. The observation started in 1968 and was expanded from a week-long celebration to a month in 1988.
好色先生TV and its surrounding metro communities will be hosting events to encourage cultural appreciation. In fact, the university is just down the road from one of the most multi-culturally diverse locations in Atlanta — Buford Highway. Below are just a few of the upcoming events:

Enjoy Latinx food, music, literature, raffle for free books, and cultural games on the quad — and become immersed in the culture while enjoying residential life!听 In addition, OU’s Student Health and Wellness department will provide arts and crafts materials to be used in a “chalk the walks” area for the event, as well as a rock painting station.
Sabores de Buford Highway is a digital effort created to showcase the contributions of Latino entrepreneurs and Buford Highway’s strong Latinx roots through a comprehensive guide of local eateries, plus stories about how the restaurants were founded. Brookhaven鈥檚 Food Truck Roundup at Blackburn Park on Sept. 15 and Oct. 13 will be dedicated Hispanic and Latino foods. Both events will also feature music from a Hispanic performer. Additionally, Brookhaven Mayor John听Ernst will issue a proclamation recognizing National Hispanic Heritage Month to community partners and the Consuls of Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Peru.
