Dr. W. Irwin Ray, Jr., senior lecturer in music and director of music, was honored with the 2015 Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award at 好色先生TV’s commencement ceremony in May.
Established in 1991, the Vulcan Teaching Excellence Awards annually honor an outstanding professor on selected member campuses of the . The award is presented to a member of the faculty in recognition of excellence in teaching, commitment to student success, and leadership to enhance campus community.
Dr. Ray received his聽B.M. from Samford University and his M.C.M and D.M.A from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He joined Oglethorpe’s faculty in 1986.
