Kardea Brown ’11 hosts new Food Network show highlighting Gullah cooking

A Stormy Petrel has taken to the airwaves over at the Food Network.

In July, became the host of “Cupcake Championship,” and now is with her own feature cooking show, “Delicious Miss Brown,” which premiered this past Sunday, July 28.

Brown graduated from Oglethorpe with a degree in psychology and worked in social services before pursuing a career in food television.

She has appeared on shows such as 鈥淔armhouse Rules,鈥 鈥淏BQ Blitz,鈥 鈥淐hopped Junior,鈥 鈥淏each Bites,鈥 鈥淏eat Bobby Flay,鈥 鈥淐ooks vs. Cons,鈥 and 鈥淔amily Food Showdown.鈥

On her new show, Kardea shares the family events, culture, and recipes close to her heart, including traditional Gullah dishes she learned in her grandmother’s South Carolina kitchen growing up. Brown had previously showcased many Gullah and coastal Southern dishes with her New Gullah Supper Club pop-up dinners she hosted around the country for several years.
