Studio art and art history major Larissa Randall ’18 has interned at the 聽since January 2016. During the spring ’17 semester, she contributed to the curation of聽, an exhibition on view through June 11, and conducted original research for the retrospective exhibition of Saussy鈥檚 work.
Her research was published in the exhibition’s catalog, which will accompany the exhibition when it travels later this year to Savannah’s 聽and the in Augusta.
As the exhibition’s curatorial intern, Larissa had the opportunity to deliver a public lecture, “Reinventing the Figure: The Portraits and Figural Works of Hattie Saussy and Cecilia Beaux,” 聽as part of OUMA’s spring lecture series.

And in June, together with OUMA鈥檚 Curator of Collections聽John Tilford, Larissa will have the opportunity to present their research and discuss how the museum serves as a resource at a liberal arts university at the conference of the Association of Academic Museums and Galleries at the University of Oregon.
Larissa was one of four Oglethorpe students to receive research funding, which will enable her to attend the conference.
“We continue to involve students in the heart of every museum endeavor,” wrote OUMA Director Elizabeth Peterson in the exhibition catalog’s foreword. “Exhibition research, planning and publishing opportunities are rare for undergraduates. We are grateful for Larissa’s contributions to this retrospective.”
