Oglethorpe Welcomes 400 New Students, Record Freshman Class

Move-in Day 20151In fall 2015, welcomed more than 400 new students, including a record freshman class of 322 students. This represents a 16+ percent growth over last year’s freshman class.

New Oglethorpe students hail from 21 states and 15 countries; 24 are international students and an additional 13 are exchange students.

Within the Class of 2019, 22 percent self-identify as first-generation—the first in their family to attend a four-year college.

Keeping on trend, 33% of freshmen are student-athletes, members of Oglethorpe’s 16 athletic teams. The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels compete within NCAA Division III and are part of the .

ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV has entered an era of innovation, re-invigoration, and growth, evidenced by this dramatic rise in enrollment—as well as increased philanthropic giving and new strategic entrepreneurial partnerships. Fueling this growth is a strong commitment real-world, hands-on experience and career preparation, combined with a unique multidisciplinary liberal arts curriculum. To accommodate growth, Oglethorpe’s campus has recently seen the addition of a new $16 million campus center, the expansion of arts and athletics facilities, and the addition of a new residential apartment complex that will include 6,000 square feet of state-of-the-art laboratories for teaching and learning.
