Student research fund now accepting applications

Research funding is available to Oglethorpe undergraduates, thanks to the student research development fund, established in 2016.

annually for funding to defray costs incurred while conducting or presenting research. Eligible uses of the funds include attending conferences, research-related equipment, and project and logistical expenses.

“A pillar of the liberal arts and sciences is hands-on research,” says Eli Arnold, Director of the Philip Weltner Library. “The Library is honored to be able to support students in this high impact practice.”

Nearly 80 stipends have been awarded since 2016. In past years, students have used the funding within a wide range of disciplines, including biology, art history, English, chemistry, linguistics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, theatre, and philosophy.

All students are eligible to , with the exception of those already receiving stipends through the Honors Program. The deadline to is Friday, November 15, 2024.

Applications will be evaluated by a committee comprised of Eli Arnold ’08, Dr. Brooke Bays, Hannah Brown, Dr. Xiangyi Kong, Dr. Karen Schmeichel, Evie Wang and Dr. Amanda Whooley.
