Dr. Brent Runnels<\/a>, senior lecturer in music at Oglethorpe, is singing with the award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus<\/a>\u00a0(ASOC) and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus<\/a>\u00a0in several upcoming performances:<\/p>\n The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus was founded in 1970 by former ASO Music Director Robert Shaw. Comprising 200 auditioned voices, the Chorus is an all-volunteer organization that performs on a regular basis with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and is featured on many of the Orchestra\u2019s recordings. Led by ASO Director of Choruses Norman Mackenzie, the Chorus is known for its precision and expressive singing quality.<\/p>\n Acclaimed for the beauty, precision and expressive qualities of its singing, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus has been an important part of the orchestra\u2019s programming since its founding by the late Robert Shaw. The Chamber Chorus, which debuted on Dec. 14, 1967, is composed of 40-60 volunteers selected by audition from the ranks of the ASO Chorus, who meet for extra rehearsals and perform with the ASO<\/a> each season.<\/p>\n\n
